Place Value Test
Our Place Value Test will be on Friday, Sept. 4th.
Here are some helpful examples and vocabulary you should study:
  • Period - each group of three digits separated by commas in a multidigit number.ex: 85,643,900 has three periods.
  • Place Value - place value determines the value of a digit in a number, based on the location of the digit.ex: 43,291 The underlined 2 is in the hundreds place.
  • Value - the "worth" of the digit.ex: 43,291 The value of the underlined 2 is 2 hundreds or 200.
  • Standard Form - the way the number is written using digits 0-9.ex: 1,856
  • Word Form - the way to write the numbers in standard English.ex: one thousand, eight hundred fifty six
  • Expanded Form - the way to write the number by showing the value of each digit.ex: 1,000 + 800 + 50 + 6
